Tip of the Week 101

As you have seen from my fishing reports, I am a huge fan of dock fishing and one thing that I have learned over the years is that the shore and terrain above the water can tell you a lot about the terrain below the water. I’ve found that the contours of the lake often match that of the contours of the surrounding shoreline. For example, if the shoreline is really sloped then there is a good chance that the underwater terrain nearby will also be very steep and that there should be drop offs nearby. By observing the shoreline, you will be able to get a feel for what lies beneath the water and be able to find prime fishing spots a lot faster.
