I got out of the water a little later today around 8:30 a.m. and launched at the boat launch on the south end. I decided to try something new today and headed for the docks on the right hand (East Side), where I have never fished before. I started at some pilings that looked promising, but wasn’t able to get anything from them, so I continued down working the docks and on the second one I felt a monster bite. I set the hook and fish on!!! It put up a great fight and when I finally did get it on the boat I saw that it was a monster smallmouth. It wasn’t the longest bass, but it sure was fat. I measured it on the scale and saw that it measure 3 lbs, which is the biggest one that I have caught on Lake Sammamish. After that I continued down the docks and two more docks down I caught another smallmouth, this one weighing in at 1.5 lbs. I kept working my way down the docks and 10 minutes later I landed another 1.5 lb smallmouth. I kept fishing for a while without a bite, but I came to a v-shaped dock and the dock next to it looked promising, so I casted to it and was able to land a 1 lb smallmouth. I had the bass in the live well and noticed they were all spitting up red-orange crawfish parts. I released the monster bass at the dock to the left of the v-shaped dock. I headed in around 11:00 a.m. and all in all was satisfied with the day.
Observations: Yet again the bass were hanging close to their docks and structure and were found in 13-17 feet of water. The fireworks didn’t seem to phase the bass, as the bite was pretty good today. I found success in 69-71 degrees of water and when I casted it tight to the docks.
