I got out on the water at around 5:30 p.m.and this time I went with a friend of mine. We headed for the right side again, but this time I went a little deeper to some new docks. I made a few casts and wasn’t able to get anything because there were a lot of weeds. After a while we came to a dock without many weeds and I cast in there and managed to land a small 0.5 pound smallmouth. I then moved on to the next few docks and was able to land a nice 1.5 pound bass. I kept working the docks and hooked into what looked like another 1.5 pound smallmouth, but I opted not to use the net and it shook off before I could get it in the boat. Unfortunately, since I didn’t get it in the boat I can’t count it, but it was as close as you can get to landing one. I kept working the docks and got a lot of bites, but just couldn’t hook into them for some reason. After 45 minutes without much more success, I decided to hit the docks to the left of the Rock Spot. On the 3rd dock I hooked into a monster fish. As soon as I tried reeling it in, it took off with my line and when I tried to reel it in again, it snapped the line. After losing a lunker, I was a little discouraged, but kept on fishing. A few minutes later I was able to land a nice 1 pound bass, but this time it was a largemouth! This was my first largemouth caught on Lake Sammamish. I then hooked into a small 0.5 pounder a few minutes later. I worked my way down the docks and then landed yet another 0.5 pound bass. My friend wasn’t having much success, but eventually hooked into a decent 0.5 pounder before we called it a day.

Observations: The water was about 76-78 degrees, which was a little bit cooler than the areas that I have been fishing. The fish that I did catch were in 12-18 feet, which was a lot shallower than the other few times that I went out, but that may explain the lower success rate. Unfortunately my hook up ratio was pretty low today and I was having a lot of trouble hooking into the bass.
