I got out of the lake a lot later than I wanted to and wasn’t able to launch until 7:00. With the days getting shorter and shorter I only had about 2 hours to fish. I started at the docks opposite of the boat launch because I had success there last time. I did have a lot of little perch bites and was able to catch a nice size crappie, but I couldn’t manage to get any bass to bite on my drop shot rig. I decided to head over toward the Seahawks Training Facility because I had been informed that it used to be the site of an old lumber factory. I went down there and it was just loaded with pilings that all looked promising. Unfortunately, as with most of the lake, it was infested with weeds, which made it extremely difficult to fish my drop shot rig. I continued around there, trying to find little pockets and finally I was able to get a nice bass bite. I set the hook and felt it on, then it shook and was able to shake the hook. I continued until dark and then headed in. This marking the first time I’ve been skunked on bass for the month of July.

Observations: The water was about 72-74 degrees, so it is heating up a little bit. The lake is infested with weeds, which makes it tough to fish at times, but I will have to compensate for that and possibly mix it up next time or find spots without weeds.
